Ubuntu Server

Ubuntu Server, on the current LTS line, is the operating system on both of the Den’s VPSs — the Gateway and the Engine. The Den runs no nested hypervisor: the Gateway’s services run natively on Ubuntu, and the Engine runs Docker directly on it.

The rest of the enclave runs on Debian — the base beneath Proxmox VE on the Manor and Annex, and beneath Incus on the Outpost. The Den is the exception, running Ubuntu’s LTS line for its long support window on the two machines closest to daily life.
